Tinnitus Sound
Are you
wondering what a tinnitus sound may actually sound like? If you have tinnitus you know exactly what you are
hearing. But if you don't have tinnitus and
someone you know does and you are wondering, we have made available some sounds
here.
It is
important to note tinnitus sufferers hear many kinds of sounds. The sound they hear depends on the type of tinnitus they
have. The sounds we have made available represent
general categories. These are the sounds most often
described. These only represent a small sample of
all the sounds tinnitus sufferers hear.
This first
sound is a very common sound. Many people describe
the sound in their ears as a tea kettle at the boiling point. Click on the play button below To hear the typical
tea kettle sound.
Tea Kettle Sound
Tinnitus is a condition or a symptom of an underlying problem. When we talk about tinnitus we are really talking about the
causes. Tinnitus is really just a signal that there
is something wrong. The causes can vary
widely.
The next
sound is called a buzzing. It sounds much like a
swarm of bees. Again, this is just a general category identified by tinnitus
sufferers. Click on the
play button below.
Buzzing Sound
Remember each sound is subjective. The tinnitus sufferer may be complaining about a buzzing noise
and the actual sound they are hearing could be quite different.
The next
sound is called a screeching sound. This screeching
sound is not like an off key opera singer. It sounds more like a high pitched sound you hear on
the phone. Click on the play
button below.
Screeching Sound
The next sound is a static sound.
This does sound like static. Many tinnitus
sufferers identify this sound. Click on the play
button below.
Static Sound
This next category is also very common. It is called the electric sound. I know what electric motors sound like, but I'm not sure I
have heard the raw sound of electricity. Click on
the link below.
Electric Sound
Unfortunately none of these sounds are pleasant. It could possibly be great if
you could hear the sounds of the ocean or a gentle wind. For tinnitus sufferers that is not the case.
This next one
is called a roaring sound. it does sound a little
like a fast moving river. At first it is not bad,
but a constant noise can be debilitating.
Roaring Sound
The last two do not have a name.
These sound files are typical of a general category tinnitus sufferers complain
about. These last two are nothing more than a
simple tone at 4500 hz. This sound is very
common.
4,000hz
This next sound is a little bit higher pitch. This will be at 7500hz . If you or somebody you know hears this tone they need to have
the cause diagnosed immediately.
7,500hz
I hope these sounds give you a little insight into the problem of
tinnitus. There are now many cures for tinnitus and
some of the more effective ones do not involve medical procedures.
