Prescription

if there is a substitute.
Stop or limit your alcohol
intake. Studies have found alcohol elevates your
tinnitus symptoms. Stopping or
reducing your alcohol intake may end your tinnitus.
Lack of exercise
- how much
exercise do you get? Something as
simple as starting to walk everyday can reduce or end tinnitus.
Diet
- Sodium or salt is a big contributor to high blood pressure. Red meat and processed foods are also a
contributor to higher blood pressure.
Stop and examine your diet. Starting
eating more fruits and vegetables along with your new exercise program. Only you can control this.
Relaxation
- take time out to slow down and smell the roses. Stress is a well known cause of
tinnitus.
Loud noise
- contributes to tinnitus. Long term
exposure can have a un reversible effect. If you work in a noisy environment start using
ear protection. You should not be
exposed to noise levels above 85 dB.
For example 85 dB is equal to average traffic noise. Lawn mowers and chain saws are about
105dB.
Colds, ear and sinus infections
- are causes of tinnitus. These
should be temporary causes. If you
have any of these and the tinnitus has not ended, see your doctor.
Stop Smoking -
many people find that once they stop smoking, their tinnitus symptoms disappear.
Quitting smoking provides other health benefits.
